Our hope as Dignity Centre is to come alongside young ladies who find themselves pregnant, alone and uncertain about their future. Our heart is to provide a Biblical alternative to abortion and to minister to those affected by HIV/AIDS We want to advise, counsel and help, them so that their dignity may be restored in the eyes of their families, the church and the whole of societyThe highlight for me in the last two months was the day we went to teach the pregnant ladies. I will never forget the astonished looks on their faces as they heard for the first time that they could talk to their unborn babies. They had never realized that they are carrying a living soul, it is almost as if they were disconnected from what is happening in their bodies. I shared my story with them and we had a good chat about taking care of their bodies while they are pregnant.

This petite, shy girl has already experienced the harshness of life. At 20, she has already lost her twin babies at the age of 6 months. She possibly is HIV positive as well. Yet, she is still faced with daily trials of unemployment and single parenthood.
One day, when I was helping another lady in labour, I noticed this young girl standing in the room. She seemed in great pain. When I talked to her, we realized she was also having contractions. I quickly helped her pack & we got into the car. We then rushed to the hospital where we booked her in. It was exciting to hear that a healthy baby boy was born later that evening! Two days later we picked her up to take her home. We are so glad that she and her baby are doing well. He is growing stronger by the day.
Even though this may not seem like much, it made such a difference in this one women's life. I felt so fulfilled being there to help her, grateful that God used me in this way. - Erica Mashappie
"Grace, please come now, the baby is coming!" With shock and excitement, I blurted, "Where did you get my phone number?" (I forgot that just four days before, we had met with 6 pregnant young ladies in Burlington.) "Have you called the ambulance?" I continued. "We did, but they said they'll only be able to come in two hours.
So I immediately jumped into the car and took off. A few minutes later the phone rang again, "Grace please come, the baby is almost out!" I arrived 5 minutes too late. The baby was born in a very small, one roomed shack. It reminded me of where Jesus was born. I was privileged to be the first person to pray God's blessing over this newborn.
It's for people like Unathi that we are fighting to see Dignity Centre established - Grace Goeda.
